1982 wasn’t just a great year for Bordeaux. It was memorable for New Zealand too as it was the first year their winemakers sold their wares overseas. They cadged some space for a few cases on a NZ Royal Air Force plane heading for RAF Brize Norton and, from there, the precious cargo made its way to a tasting in London in a clapped-out Cortina.
